Year 13 Leavers Message

I hope that you and your families are well.

Today may be your last day as a student at St. Mary’s College, but you will forever be a member of our St. Mary’s family. You will know that in different circumstances that we would have had a big celebration for you today, but sadly this is not possible. This does not, however, prevent me from wanting to celebrate all of you, each and every one of you, and all that you have achieved with us, and all that you will achieve as you build bright and exciting futures full of dreams and opportunities.

You have grown with us, built lasting friendships and through the knowledge, energy and support of your wonderful teachers and staff here at College, learned subjects and life skills that are valuable now and always. Our College values of respect and tolerance are qualities that will stand you in good stead as young adults and throughout life, and you will never fail to impress others if you keep an open mind and can-do attitude.

I am very grateful to your families, and you should be too, as they have supported you through College, listening and guiding you in times of triumph and disappointment.

I’d like to thank you for making the choice to study at St. Mary’s College and enrich our teaching experience as we get to know and learn from you too believe it or not!

You are starting on a journey, and some of you will know your destination – University, employment, apprenticeships, and some of you will be unsure. So, my advice to all of you is to continue, as you have with us here at college, to embrace life and learning with the same passion, enthusiasm, courage and spirit as you find your way. It is a big world out there, but you are part of it, a very important part of it and you can make a difference. Be brave, be gracious, be true to yourself and be the best that you can be.

With every best wish for you in the future,

Elissa Best

Principal (Interim)
