Our Vocational Studies Group endured a gruelling 8 mile walk in hopes of raising awareness of good causes.
After many tragic stories in the news relating to mental health, the group wanted to raise money for two great mental health initiatives, Mind and Jack’s club.
Mind is a charity which has been going for 74 years. The charity offers information and advice to people with mental health problems. Jack’s Club is a meeting place for young people to chat and discuss issues that are important to them, open on the first and third Wednesdays of every month in Rossendale.
No walk at St Marys could be done without Justine’s warm up, a perfect start to the challenge! With the students off and ready to go the group completed 18 laps of the football field.
Miss White, Head of Vocational Studies said, “Well done to all Vocational Studies students and staff, what a terrific effort and fundraiser for such good causes. All the members of the Vocational Group made valuable contributions and we are excited to count up the cash soon.”
The target winners of the fundraising are Muhammad Zayn who reached an epic target of £276.00 through his generous sponsors and Amy Glass who reached her goal of £36.00.
The Vocational studies group have raised over £300 pounds and each initiative will receive £150 plus.
A massive well done to our Vocational Students and department, who celebrated their achievements with a well-earned pizza lunch!
