Joining the St Mary’s Nursery team from the beginning of her career, this was Natalie’s first role aged 16 after gaining her NVQ in Childcare Studies in 2003, the same year that the Nursery Site opened its doors!

Natalie started her St Mary’s Nursery journey in the Baby Unit. She then moved to the Pre-School and Tweenie rooms alternating between the two over the years as her bubbly personality was most suited to this age group. Natalie explained “Through working in different rooms, I have watched the children start their time here as babies until they leave our Pre-School department all ready to start school which is very rewarding.”

In 2016 Natalie landed a new position within the Nursery as a Senior Year Practitioner. This started as a part time shared role with another colleague and was the perfect transition onto management level. Natalie is now a Full Time Senior Years Practitioner in the Pre-School section of the St Mary’s Nursery Site. Natalie has worked as a Safeguarding Lead and has now transitioned to SENCO role, showing her interest in learning as much as she can to tailor to every child’s experience that enter St Mary’s Nursery.

The development of the staff could not be done without the close knit community of the Nursery. This makes all the difference and really shows the dedication that the team have for the children that enter the doors of the Nursery Site.

Natalie said of the Nursery team “St Mary’s Nursery is like a family and it is where I met my best friend Steph who works at the Wensley Fold site.”

At our Nursery Sites, the children have the opportunity to do activities that they are interested in which helps them pick up skills. The children’s skillset for school life is a very important part for Natalie and her team in the Pre-School department. Natalie added “The most rewarding thing about my role is building relationships with the children and the parents. I really enjoy seeing the children pick up skills over time that they have been taught.
