St Mary’s College is a Roman Catholic Sixth Form College with approximately 900 full time students aged 16-19 and over 400 adult learners.

The College was founded by the Marist Fathers who remain the Trustees. It is a Catholic College but we celebrate our inclusivity and welcome students and staff from all backgrounds and faiths.  The success of the College is clear to see not only in the achievements of our students, but also in the developing campus. We can claim to provide education from ‘the cradle to the grave’ having nursery and adult provision with no upper age limit! Our core business remains the 16-19 provision of a wide range of curriculum subjects offered at Levels 1, 2 and 3 and in the provision of a variety of undergraduate programmes linked with Liverpool Hope University and UCLAN.

Teacher of Chemistry 

The Chemistry Department lies within the Faculty of Science, Maths and Computing which also encompasses Biology, Physics, Maths, Computing and Information Technology, Geography, Psychology and Sport.

The successful candidate will join our Chemistry Department comprising two teachers and a laboratory technician.

He/she may be expected to teach Year12/Year13 A level Chemistry, BTEC Level 3 Applied Science and GCSE science across all the scientific disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Currently A level chemists study the AQA syllabus 7405. BTEC level 3 Applied Science Edexcel 500/6720/5 (QCF)

This successful department currently comprises 73 Year 12 students, 69 Year 13 students

The science students at St Mary’s College are accommodated in a purpose-built Science block opened in September 2007. The science block has nine specialist labs, fully equipped and well-resourced with Lap top, Electronic Whiteboards, Whiteboards, student mini whiteboards etc, a research room, and substantial preparation areas and staff accommodation.

Extracurricular activities include: Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, RSC Chemistry Olympiad, RSC Analytical Chemistry Competitions etc

We are looking for a dynamic member of staff who is highly committed and motivated with high expectations of post-16 students.
