St Mary’s College student Olivia Bourne will soon be taking her place at Brasenose College, Oxford University to read Biochemistry Molecular & Cellur after receiving her fantastic A Level results.
Olivia, 18 from Oswaldtwistle, received an impressive 3 A*s and an A in her results securing her place at the prestigious Brasenose College at Oxford University. Having studied A Level Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and the Extended Project Qualification at St Mary’s College Olivia said “It’s a dream come true to get a place at Oxford. I can’t believe I’ve actually done it. It proves hard work pays off, I’m over the moon!”
During her studies Olivia has found a passion for researching Alzheimer’s disease and the application of gene therapy in its treatment. This is something Olivia is looking forward to continuing to explore during her degree and further.
At St Mary’s College Olivia was involved in several extra circular activities including competing in the Intermediate Biology Olympiad. The competition consists of a one-hour multiple choice paper & nationally Olivia was awarded a gold medal.
On her time at St Mary’s College Olivia concluded “my teachers have been so supportive and have always found ways to push me to get the grades I wanted, I can’t thank them enough, and I’m very excited to continue my studies”
