Enterprise Networking
On Wednesday 29th August St. Mary's played host to an East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce Networking Event at the College.
The monthly twilight gathering took place in the SMC Enterprise Centre and involved 30-40 local businesses gathering in order to network and share their business experience and acumen. As SMC played host for the evening, it gave the ideal opportunity to discuss the training opportunities that exist for members of the Chamber and their staff here at the College, including adult literacy and numeracy classes and undergraduate studies.
The College is keen to strengthen its partnerships and links with local business leaders and how together we can look to embed enterprise skills within the College curriculum. Many links were forged and business cards exchanged during the 2 hour meeting and it is hoped that Chamber members will be willing to support us in future ventures as we move forward with the enterprise agenda.

Enterprise Days @ SMC - June 2012
St. Marys recently hosted a range of enterprise days with year 9 students from Mount Carmel RC High School, Witton Park and St. Augustine’s RC High School taking part in a ‘Brand the Band’ task.
The task involved students getting into groups to create and brand a band, develop publicity materials and compose a winning song.
The students then had to “pitch” their ideas to a group of independent judges who decided on the ‘winner’ of the day.
